Car Safety Certificate Brisbane, Gold Coast – East Coast Mobile Safety Certificates
A Safety Certificate (formally known as a Roadworthy Certificate) will take approximately 40-50 minutes. At the completion of the inspection a detailed written report will be issued. If the vehicle fails inspection, you have fourteen days to rectify the problem and call us back out for a reinspection.
Some of the basic safety items a Safety Certificate/Roadworthy Certificate covers, are;-
- Tyres
- Brakes
- Suspension
- Body Rust or damage
- Lights
Registered cars in Queensland must have a valid Safety Certificate/Roadworthy Certificate before owners can offer them for sale. Significant fines apply for failing to display a current Safety Certificate.
When selling your vehicle privately the Safety Certificate/Roadworthy Certificate is valid for 2 months or 2,000km (whichever comes first). Dealers Safety Certificates/Roadworthy Certificate are valid for 3 months or 1,000km (whichever comes first). The buyer should check that the certificate is still in date before committing to the purchase of a vehicle as transferring the registration cannot be completed without a Safety Certificate/Roadworthy Certificate.
The seller is legally responsible for providing the Safety Certificate/Roadworthy Certificate and to complete any repairs that are required before the Safety Certificate/Roadworthy Certificate can be issued. You should never be persuaded by the seller to get your own Safety Certificate/Roadworthy Certificate as if there are any repairs to be made on the vehicle this will be at your own cost.
If the vehicle is unregistered there is no legal requirement for the seller to provide the buyer with a Safety Certificate/Roadworthy Certificate however it is in the buyers interest to request one be issued before the sale of the vehicle.
